6 Hours of Cycle Training for Oxford Uni Students and Staff

Broken Spoke have a stall at Oxford University’s Freshers Fair every year and it’s an incredible opportunity to speak to thousands of students new to Oxford and ready to explore what this incredible city has to offer. Oxford is renowned for being a Cycling City, yet so many students shared that it was fear and lack of confidence that was the biggest barrier to getting on a bike.

In order to tackle this and to support students in adjusting to life here and feel empowered to commute and travel safely and swiftly through our streets, we’ve partnered with Oxford University for a number of years and 6 hours of fully funded cycle training is available to all staff and students.

This is the equivalent of 3 one-to-one classes and is suitable for everyone – whether you’ve never ridden a bike before; have taken a break and feeling a bit rusty; or you cycle regularly but are feeling a bit nervous or unsure of some of the trickier junctions and roads. Wherever you are on your cycling journey – we’re here to support you.

Our Cycle Trainers are Bikeability certified, have years of experience teaching groups and individuals and will tailor each session to meet your needs.

If you don’t have a bike, you can borrow one from us; if you have a bike but live in another part of Oxford, we have risk assessed sites across the city where we can come to you.
