9 April 2014

Have you noticed how beautiful it is right now?? The sun is shining, the birds are chirping, the children are playing, and the adults are wearing shorter and shorter skirts. Oh, also there are more people riding bikes.

Because that’s what we’re all about: cycling. Whether you’re 7 or 87, we think that you should have an enjoyable time doing any activity on a bike, from shopping to sport, transportation to exercise. Our 2013-14 fiscal year ended on a high note with a small profit that we’re able to squirrel away for a rainy day, and 2014-15 has some big plans. We’ll be expanding our adult cycle training programme, seeking out new mechanics, experimenting with repairs and different opening times, and offering more and more bespoke services for companies and marginalised groups. It’s going to be an exciting year!

You’ll hear all the news and updates here and on our Facebook and Twitter feeds, but if you want the real lowdown just pop into the workshop. We’re very chatty.

Peace and bike grease,
– Cassiope, Elle, and the Broken Spoke Team

No Beryls’ Night in April 🙁

Awwwwww……that’s right gals, we won’t be having our usual Beryls’ Night on the 16th of April.

Actually, due to some access restrictions at our building, we’re re-thinking Beryls’ Night as a whole and will be back in touch soon. It’s not disappearing, it’s just having a makeover!

tandem festival
The Tandem Festival

Pan-european, intimate and inspiring, Tandem is a brand new pan-European festival, starting this year at Hill End, Oxford. From the 20th to 22nd June, Tandem Festival will showcase a range of musicians and performers, alongside workshops, documentaries and talks promoting community projects and eco-living.

How can a festival be pan-European and eco-minded!? The answer is by encouraging everyone to join the fun by bike! Cycling expeditions from key locations are being organised to get people from continental Europe and UK to ride out together and Tandem Festival in June. So far routes are being planned from Cambridge, London, Amsterdam and Paris!

Please get in contact if you would like to get involved: info@tandemfestival.com
