We’re hiring!

We’re on the hunt for two people to join our staff team in an exciting time of development and growth at Broken Spoke.

These two management roles will join our existing Community Coordinator to make up the three-person strong core team, which sits within a broader ecosystem of nine casual mechanics and cycle trainers and many brilliant volunteers.

We are still recovering from the impacts of Covid and are yet to re-launch all of our activities. The people who fill these roles will work with our volunteers and members to help shape the future of the Spoke. We need someone who is enthusiastic about shaping these changes – it’s an exciting time to join Broken Spoke.

The two new permanent roles are:

A Delivery Manager – we’re looking for someone to take accountability for our project and programme delivery,  and manage our community workshop space.

The role that Broken Spoke plays in our community is needed now more than ever. Covid restrictions and lockdowns have acted as a trigger for increased focus (and government funding) in active travel, clean air and health, of which cycling and bikes play a huge part. Beyond the focus on cycling and bikes, the role we play in community building, and our community workshop space as a space that brings people together in a supportive and rich community of volunteers and supporters, is needed more than ever in a time of increased social isolation and anxiety.

As a community, our volunteers, staff and board have stayed committed throughout the pandemic, providing bikes for key-workers, building an outdoor workshop, and fundraising to keep the Spoke going. We now need two brilliant people to step up on a permanent basis to turn this energy into long term resilience at Broken Spoke, helping us to keep going, keep building resilient communities and keep people on their bikes.
