“My two favourite things in life are libraries and bicycles. They both move people forward without wasting anything. The perfect day: riding a bike to the library.” ~ Peter Golkin

10 December 2013
Weelllll….it’s finally here: the cold days, the freezing rain, the dead leaves, the early nights. I don’t want to go to bed because I know I’ll have to wake up in the dark and cold and rush to get out of the freezing house.
BUT!!!! There’s also mulled wine! And mince pies! And long underwear and cheerful fires and meals with friends! And there’s a fat jolly guy with a beard breaking into your house to eat your biscuits…I recommend installing an alarm system.
Speaking of fires, we’ve now got TWO heaters in the workshop, which means toasty fingers when fiddling with little cables and screws. We’ve also got plenty of gifts for the cyclist in your life, and the biggest news of all:
STARTING IN 2014 WE’LL ALSO BE OPEN ON SUNDAYS!!!
Phew, if that’s not a Christmas bonus I don’t know what is.
Peace and bike grease,
-Cassiope, Elle, and the Broken Spoke team

New Year, New Hours!
Fridays – 12-6pm
Saturdays – 12-6pm
Sundays – 12-6pm (except for when we’ve got scheduled classes)
1st & 3rd Wednesdays – 6-9pm (women and trans-gender)
2nd & 4th Thursdays – 7.30-10pm (until March 27th)

Holiday Closure
I know each and every mechanic in the shop seems like a superhero, but they like to have days off too. That’s why we’ll be closed from December 21st-January 3rd!
The last day to enjoy fixing your bike in 2013 will be Friday, December 20th, and we might have mince pies to say so long.
Come back on January 4th to cash in on those New Years Resolutions!

Winter is Coming
At our last Beryls’ Night of the year (6-9pm, December 18th) we’ll be addressing something very important: winterising your bike!
What’s that mean? We’ll grease cables, lube chains, prevent rust, and give your bike a little Chrimbo pressie.
You can also check out our Beryls’ Night topics through the end of April: www.bsbcoop.org/beryls-night

We Know When You’ve Been Nice…
Have you got the tree? The tinsel? The baubles? Have you got your bike a pressie yet?
I apologise for the shameless advertising, but we’ve got some lovely things in stock right now for that special bike in your life: Knog lights, Pedros tyre levers (the best on the market), mudguards, and of course mechanics course vouchers. Happy shopping!
